Building the Next Generation of Music Educators

Joe Brice - Retired Band Director

Dear Music Educator:

My name is Joe Brice.  I was a high school band director and department coordinator for 42 years!  I taught the last 26 years at Smoky Hill High School in Cherry Creek School District.  As a member of the Colorado Music Educators Association, I have been asked to participate in a mentoring project for them.  I come by this endeavor somewhat naturally because I have been doing this in Colorado during the six years since my retirement.  I have visited more than 50 schools all over Colorado and worked with students and young band directors in concert, marching and jazz.

This letter is to inform you of this project, and that I am making myself available to your school band program and staff.

Availing you of our services in no way implies that you or your program is necessarily deficient.  We just want to help band programs in Colorado to be more successful, to meet the needs of your students and community, and to help young teachers be more successful.  I am presently state certified to be in your school.

I may be reached by phone at 303-838-0860, or by email at cnjbrice@earthlink.net .  I look forward to working with you in whatever capacity is most beneficial.  Thank you so much for your consideration of this matter.

Best regards,
Joseph M. Brice
