CMEA 2013 Conference Young Composer Contest
2013 Conference Young Composers Contest- Announcement from CMEA President
At the CMEA conference this past January I announced the launching of a young composers contest.  The pieces entered into this contest are to be only 12-16 measures long and consist of only the melody with a tempo marking.  The winning melody will be the basis of an original composition for concert band and brass quintet.  This complete composition will be premiered on the opening session of the 2013 CMEA conference and will feature the Boston Brass.  Entries may be submitted by any student from any organization from elementary – students graduating in the class of 2013.  Teachers can approach this as an  independent student project or as part of a class lesson.
 
The winning student will be recognized at the premiere and will receive gifts from CMEA and Jupiter Band Instruments.  Compositions may be submitted at any time, but are due by October 15,2012.   Information is available on the banddirector.com webpage by clicking the CMEA banner.  I would like to see hundreds of entries and encourage you to share this with your students.  You may find more information by going to "Links" section below and clicking on
